Our work focuses primarily on socioeconomically disadvantaged communities in the Metropolitan Zone of Guadalajara.
The El Rehilete neighbourhood is located in the south of Zapopan, a municipality within the metropolitan zone of Guadalajara. The neighborhood has the highest index of inequality in the municipality and is primarily composed of homes built on irregular plots of land over the last 10 years. This particular situation has created challenges that make the social development of the community difficult. Some of the problems El Rehilete is currently facing are the high number of families living in poverty, including groups of indigenous people and migrants from other states, the lack of support networks and community programs. Violence, addictions and the lack of basic public services such as water and electricity further deteriorate the living conditions.
